I want this... Quite badly.

The bunny guy was named "charis".

And also, I am VERY certain that Ronnie wouldn't mind your uploading of that. He was fine with TTTC being distributed freely, and there were several other instances where distribution was okay with lesser-known or hard to get things. PLEASE upload those two tracks.

If memory serves correctly, I think Ronnie's stance on people downloading his music illegally used to be that, while he preferred they didn't, he didn't care much either way. If that was the case then with JE's official releases, I'm pretty sure he'd care even less if you uploaded an ancient, Dance House Children prototype version of Every Nook and Cranny. Artists generally only care about this sort of thing if it is material that they plan on revisiting in the future. Since Ronnie already put out a fully-fleshed out version of ENC on Art and Craft 10 years ago (a decade, already!), I think this is a non-issue, really.

i'd really like to see that right now. i'm hoping that guy posts next. it's not the only bunny with a pancake on its head picture i've ever seen, and i find that intriguing.

You know, I was checking in with Ronnie to make sure it was ok to send this around. I'm not really sure it had been an actual release, so I wasn't sure if it was something that had meant to get in the wild. But anyway, I never heard back and I know that other folks already have it, so it's not like the cat's going back in the bag anytime soon. If you'd like to hear it, shoot me your email address in an IM.

Incidentally, I was listening to the other track ("Silver Streams") and realized that it's the same as "The Gingerbread Meadow" off Songs and Stories. Funny.

Wow. Both of these tracks are beyond good.

I cant imagine a whole dance house children in this sort of style (not because its bad but because the aesthetic seems so different compared to the other 3 dhc releases). Its very powerful compared to the more melancholic final releases.

Thanks again for sharing these gems David :D

AMAZING!! So heavy and propulsive yet retaining Ronnie's knack for beautiful melancholic melodies. I adore the intro of "White Horses"! So pretty. Love the sudden contrast as the chorus chords come in. Need to give "Silver Streams" more listens!

So does anyone want to hazard a guess as to when these were made? I listen to the songs, and I can convince myself that it sounds like it's actually pre-DHC. But then the orchestral overtones reminds me a little of Rainbow Rider. Both songs eventually surfaced later (one as a DHC song and the other as JE). It seems highly unusual that Ronnie would record one version on Songs and Stories, release it, and then later redo it for "The Childrens Symphony". Hmm. I think for that reason alone, I've just talked myself into believing these were a pre-DHC project.

Amazing stuff, I love hearing demos! David: the file tags say they're from 1989. It also lists the artist as "Dance House Children," and the album as "The Childrens Symphony." Maybe someone with the actual cassette/CD/whatever can verify this. I'd also love to see the cover artwork.

David, I'm a long time JE fan ( I have "In your heart there's a world of sadness" tattooed across my chest) and I'd very much like to hear those songs. I attempted to message you, but it doesn't show any contact info.

thanks,

chris

Hi David,

I was wondering if you could send me the White Horses track as well? I was unable to find your contact information, but I would really appreciate it as I am also a long time fan.

Thanks,
Jordan
