Every Song: Drum Machine Joy (The House In The Woods Mix)

Postby NathanJN » Fri Nov 04, 2011 3:24 pm

The second song off of the Five Stars for Failure EP, "Drum Machine Joy (The House In The Woods Mix)" remixes the much-beloved song.

Here's some possible topics for discussion:
1. Favorite Line
2. Least Favorite Line
3. Musical Quality
4. Images the Song Brings to Mind
5. Overall Rating (Using the entire body of JE music as a means of comparison . . . not just the album the song appears on.)
6. How does this remix compare to the original? Better? Worse? Different and equally good?

The lyrics for this can be found on the Melody discography page:

Compared against the original, I like this version just as much as the original but for different reasons. The vocals, for one, sound more natural and organic.

hi im sorta new here well ive had an account for more than 3 years just never had the cajones/am kinda lazy to post. well im planning now to be an active poster.

i must say i really admire your dedication to this crusade of discussion of opinions and thoughts on all one of the greatest musicians (ronnie) works

i wish i would have started since melody since that is like easily my favorite studio album (oddly enough the new art and craft is my favorite cd) but it would be pointless now that the heat of the discussion is out.

well anyways this being a song on melody i felt i had to reply. i like this much better than the original because i feel its more cheerful upbeatness has filled in the song in some ways the more gloomy original didnt. what i dont like is that the vocals are a little to high or pronounced in this which make them sounds a tad bit strained.

i like the line the evil spell of sadness has been broken coupled with the chorus. ibelieve this song is depecting the power of god/ worship music has to change lives around.

This version definitely sounds more natural and is fleshed out a little more. I always felt the original was a little too sparse and harsh-sounding. The title is "The House in the Woods Mix", but it's more the "House in the Woods Mix." :D

Feel free to go back and unbury some of those older songs. I really think we've only recently gotten some momentum going with this topic. But I'm glad to have you aboard! For me it's been rather fun to listen to a song off and on throughout the week and pick out the things I like about it.

Thanks for sharing!

I think "House in the Woods" mix flows off the tongue easier too :)
