Jon Sonnenberg is looking for new labels

If Travelogue leaves Plastiq it will officially cease to have any justification for its existence.

I know he says he'd like to work with them for the EP, but a new label is a new label. He's going to be on Plastiq like Joy Electric is on Plastiq, which is to say not really and to no great consequence.

Anyway keep your eye on his new record, if it really goes in the direction he says it's going, it's going to be the record of the decade. The looser and more diverse Travelogue becomes, the better the music gets. He's building a whole improvised drum kit for it.

When he made that post I didn't take it to mean Jon wanted to "leave" Plastiq Musiq but shop that specific record around to labels suited for it, such as he did for the Acoustic Selections album.

Edit with later thoughts: I'm not trying to say I understand why the man would want to shop the record around to different labels, unless it's a radically different record (again, like Acoustic Selections)--I just didn't see it as a big scandal either.

Dr. M, I don't think it's very nice to say that pqmq would cease to have a reason to exist if travelogue left.

Aww, did I hurt its feelings? :( Maybe if they acquired the ability to find other bands that were actually any good, it wouldn't need to be said.

Maybe he wants to find a label with actual distributing and promotional opportunities. Just a guess. I mean, is there really a difference between being on a label like Plastiq, and being on no label at all?

Honestly, I can't wait for payday so I can finally buy the Jamie Long album. I just got Flashlight Party "Wreaths" and I am super stoked that it was released on Plastiq.

As long as Plastiq is putting out music I will have interest in it. Some of my favorite albums have been released by that label. It just needs to start putting out music more often. At least 3 releases a year would be awesome...but unrealistic I think.

Oh and bring Norway the F-U-C-K back!

The difference is I'm more likely to buy the release on good faith.
