Songs that got lost along the way?

Postby lfh » Thu May 31, 2012 5:31 am

I'm curious how many songs have gotten lost along the way, were planned for releases that never happened, or were planned for albums but scrapped in favor of other songs. I know there's a live version of a song floating around called "Wish For", and supposedly, according to the Joy Electric Discography, there was supposed to be an Artcore Vol. 3 that was going to feature a song called "Don't Doubt Me", which was apparently billed as your heaviest song ever. Those are two songs I'm especially curious about, moreso "Don't Doubt Me" because I haven't heard it. Do you think you'll ever do something like an Art and Craft of Popular Music Vol. 2 that will collect some b-sides and rarities that have accumulated since the last Art and Craft?

There are not a great many lost songs. Aside from the two you mentioned, there are probably only eight or nine more I could round up if I searched my memory and my archives. "Don't Doubt Me" was originally written for a compilation called "Artcore Volume 3", whereas "Wish For" was from "The Tick Tock Treasury" sessions. The rights to "Wish For" were sold to another label that never released it, but I'm hoping "Don't Doubt Me" will end up on something in the future under a different heading.

Thanks for writing,
