My biggest, least talked about influence would be an album by a band named After the Fire called "Der Komissar". ATF was a band from the UK that had a US hit in 1982 with a song called "Der Komissar", and the label then released a greatest hits record of the same name at the time. The album also had a song on it called "Carry Me Home" which became a sort of minor hit single in the gospel market, but it eventually had a big influence on me, as it was all synths and programming. Of course, I never knew the album was a sort of "best of", so I just thought it was incredible that they wrote so many good songs on one album. Like any record from your childhood, the nostalgia usually trumps the silliness aspect of it, as anyone listening to it at my suggestion would probably come back with a decisive "REALLY Ronnie...REALLY??"
