Every Song: Strawberry Heart

"Strawberry Heart" is the ninth and penultimate song on the Robot Rock album.

Here's some possible topics for discussion:
1. Favorite Line
2. Least Favorite Line
3. Musical Quality
4. Images the Song Brings to Mind
5. Overall Rating (Using the entire body of JE music as a means of comparison . . . not just the album the song appears on.)

The song can be heard on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvzWstUcn-M

Lyrics:

Strawberry Heart

my love my love
are words you used
to say
before the days
the light went dark in you
when i look back
our whole lives disappear
i’m longing for the way it
used to be

strawberry heart
hold my hand before
we fall apart
strawberry heart
kiss me once before
our love departs

we used to be lost in
each others eyes
and everyday seemed
like a new surprise
why can’t it be
like yesterday
one more time
for all the years i give
my life to you

I like this little couplet of "berry songs". Strawberry Heart flows wonderfully from The Berry Patch.

The melody on this particular berry song is just wonderful!

5/5 for me!

ugh. I love this song so much. I'm not one for Robot Rock but just putting on this song can put me in the mood to listen to the whole thing. It exemplifies everything I love about Ronnie and his extremely brutal sweetness of this era without making my teeth want to fall out. Perfect/10

the strawberry bears its seed on the outside. you'll occasionally see one balancing on peoples heads in hieronymous bosch paintings. it has been used as a symbol of lust. so 'strawberry heart' is probably about as raunchy as JE will ever get, to the semantically literate :p

Hahaha this is hilarious. Kudos on the Hieronymous Bosch reference. I did a research project on him in high school. One of the more interesting painters of old.

I agree with Nathan. 5/5 for this song. It really should be noted how Ronnie really hit his stride in terms of pop songwriting with this record. No wonder it was his breakout album, so to speak.
